I take the Z1 with me to parties and friends BBQ's so it's real easy to plug in to your phone and start putting on a show. Everyone asks me when I arrive "are you going to mix tonight?" with my Z1 and Traktor DJ, the answer is always, yes ! The onboard sound card means you can mix in the headphones and send the audio bluetooth to remote speakers without having to deal with latency. "

"As a DJ who generally plays small gigs that lack a lot of space, this mixer works perfectly. In addition to all the basic functions you expect out of a mixer, the Z1 is compact, runs off of a laptop, and has it's own soundcard for cueing. The downside is, this mixer is meant to be used with the iPad or iPhone Traktor DJ app, so if you use a laptop to DJ, the Z1 has 2 major limitations. First, there is not control over FX. Even though the knobs above the volume faders look like they have Filter/FX toggles, they only control the filter; the FX toggle only works with Traktor DJ for iPad/iPhone. Second, there is no control over hotcues. If you use the Traktor DJ app, this isn't a problem, as you have access to all the hotcues through the touchscreen interface, but with a laptop, there is no such luck. The good news is, when you pair the Z1 with another controller many of the aforementioned limitations can be overcome. I use a Midifighter spectra with the FX^2 mapping - you can find this mapping on the DJTT mapping page - to control effects and hotcues. Combine this with the Z1, and you have a compact and dynamic 2 controler setup, perfectly suited for smaller gigs. In summary, the Z1 is an awesome compact mixer, meant to be used with the Traktor DJ app. Used alone with Traktor Pro 2, it leaves a few things to be desired, but when combined with another controller, such as a Midifighter or an X1, the Z1 offers a great 2 controller set up, perfect for smaller gigs."

The MM-1 has the powered hub, but the Z1 can power off the laptop, and that's one less cord for me."
